In all seriousness, I would like to thank everyone that came out to the booth and took a look at my prints . . . . and want to give an even bigger thank you to everyone who took prints home with them.  I’m happy to know that they’ve found good homes both here and on the Mainland.  I’ll look forward to seeing everyone at the next show . . . . . dates and times to be determined.

Pictured below is “The Larry,” the largest sized (by far) shave ice sold by the Shimazu Store here in town.  Sizes run from Small . . . . . all the way up to The Larry.

. . . . . and in case you were wondering, my friend Quynh was able to finish the entire Larry earning the respect of both family, friends, and innocent bystanders.

Please visit the Gallery @ The Arts at Marks Garage (1159 Nuuanu Avenue, Honolulu Chinatown) through the end of September to view the “36 Views of Leahi” show juried by one of Oahu’s most famous artists, Masami Teraoka.  The show will be displaying artwork that “includes, from whatever angle or point of view, Honolulu’s most iconic landscape.”  Two of my works will be displayed at the show.  I was particularly happy to be chosen for the exhibit by Mr. Teraoka .  He is truly one of my favorite artists (and a big reason why I entered the show in the first place).  His work is heavily influenced by ukiyo-e woodblock prints and often features the collision of Eastern and Western Culture.  It will be interesting to see the pieces he chose for the show.
