La Muse Honolulu proudly presents Hawaii Artist Judd Boloker

Designer Julia Chu’s fashion forward boutique, La Muse, will be presenting the work of Hawaii Artist Judd Boloker on Friday September 6th, 2013.  Normally a must-visit Honolulu destination for signature women’s clothing, La Muse will be instantly transformed into a contemporary urban Pop Up Gallery.

Judd Boloker is an award-winning artist living and working in Honolulu, Hawaii.  His work has been exhibited both locally in Honolulu and throughout the mainland at galleries in Chelsea NY, Los Angeles CA, and Scottsdale AZ.  He was featured in the Honolulu Museum of Art’s “Artists of Hawaii” exhibit in 2011 and his work won top prize at the Association of Hawaii Artists Contemporary show in 2010.  He is additionally one of Oahu’s few inhabitants who does not own a surfboard.

Judd will be showing his latest work, “Maunakea Street Refrigerator,” an ongoing series of limited edition digital prints begun in Summer 2011.  The work, currently 27 pieces (and growing), depicts a wide range of Na Lei sourced from Honolulu Chinatown lei shops. The survey’s breadth pays homage to botanical illustration catalogues of the past, while the alternative presentation style gives the genre a modern twist reflecting the vibrant Hawaiian culture of the present.

It was great to be a part of the evening and meet Senator Will Espero.  Also a pleasure to mingle with some great Hawaii artists and community leaders working hard to support the arts and Hawaiian culture.  That's me in the back row next to the Senator on the left.  Fun night for great causes.

Please join me on Wednesday, August 7th @ 6pm for An Evening of Art - presented by the Laroa Artflow Foundation as part of Start-Up Arts Month Hawaii hosted by the Lawrence Blake Group International .  The event will benefit arts education programs for students at Aha Punana Leo Hawaiian Immersion School.  I will be showing new work as part of a celebration of "The Top 20 Most Inspirational Artists of Hawaii."
